Bio
Mr Garland holds a Master of Education in Research on Teaching and Learning from the Technical University of Munich, where they specialised in instructional design, quantitative and qualitative research methods, and the development of research instruments. His academic background also includes a Bachelor of Teaching/Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Newcastle, Australia.
His research interests focus on instructional design models, blended learning strategies, metacognitive learning, and the evaluation of teaching methodologies in international education contexts.
Mr Garland has contributed to academic work through research proposals and project evaluations in collaboration with the SEED Center, TUM, and has participated in international initiatives in Kenya and Rwanda, the focus of which was the development of textless image-based materials (comics) for the purposes of communicating social and economic benefits of off-grid renewable energy sources for rural populations in the global South.
Professionally, Mr Garland has extensive experience as an educator and lecturer. Since 2022, he has served as Head of Dissertation and Partnerships Coordination at the Munich campus, delivering courses at both Bachelor and Master levels. Prior to this, he was engaged as a teacher at Munich International School, and worked at Allianz SE in HR Transformation, contributing to chatbot development and taxonomy creation. Earlier teaching posts include roles at Phorms International School (Munich), The Harefield Academy (UK), and Lake Munmorah High School (Australia). His career reflects a strong commitment to international education, research-driven practice, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
