Term 3 (18 ECTS)
Leading Effectively in Uncertain Global Markets

Leadership is a term which is often overused and misunderstood, reducing a profound practice of vision, influence and responsibility to a mere title or buzzword. In the ever-changing political, economic and business landscape, sound leadership is required more than ever. This course uncovers the hidden layers of leadership by delving beyond foundational theories and into modern leadership concepts and practices. The goal is to bring the concept of leadership to life by making it something students can see, feel and experience rather than just talk about. In addition, the aim of the course is to analyze the roles of emotional intelligence, power and organizational politics and change management to prepare students with the leadership competencies needed for tomorrow’s challenges.

4.5 ECTS

It guides participants step-by-step through the strategy development process, starting with analyzing the global landscape, examining industry and competitive forces, and evaluating internal resources and capabilities to create appropriate strategic options. The emphasis is on an application-focused and experiential learning method rather than solely theoretical instruction. By using real-world case studies, scenario-based activities and structured decision-making frameworks, students build their skills in addressing strategic challenges in conditions of uncertainty. To complement the course, participants take part in the Capsim Business Simulation, where they manage a virtual company in a highly competitive market environment. This simulation serves to apply and integrate the concepts and models developed in the course, illustrating their relevance and practical applicability.

Students build key skills in innovation management, negotiation and pitching while learning the dynamics of modern entrepreneurial ecosystems. The Lab culminates in a final pitch event that simulates an investor's presentation, reinforcing decision-making, communication, and leadership under uncertainty. Throughout the term, participants are encouraged to experiment, iterate and view failure as learning. By integrating ethical reflection and sustainability principles, the Lab ensures students not only understand how to launch ventures but also how to create responsible, high-impact businesses that deliver both economic and social value.
